Feb. 26, 2022 AWCY? Gatlatl (AKA zerr0w Barrel) by zer0fux Remix of the Proto-barrel by Proto to facilitate shooting arrows from, but not limited to the following platforms: -CMMG Dedicated or Conversion .22LR AR (think AWCY? Tubee or AWCY? scARpion) -Ruger 10/22 Fixed/Standard Barrel (Ruger 10-22, LX-22, Mussy G22v3, Fixed Barrel Galileo) -Ruger 10/22 Takedown (AWCY? Bento Box, Ruger OEM Takedown, Galileo Takedown What you need: -Carbon Fiber Tubes 25mmx23mmx420mm https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08FJFS4T5 you can shop around and find matte or other colors... as long as it is 25mmx23mmx420mm -.22LR Barrel Liner, I suggest the Redmans liner from Brownells, second choice is the .305 Liner from Numrich Arms -16" Crossbow Bolts, there are two options that we know work. The cheap option requires some work, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B085XXF9WD/ these need the noc removed and we suggest that you heat the threaded ferrule, remove it and epoxy it back in. From the factory they are held in with superglue and when using a purple ramset blank, the arrowhead and the ferrule will take flight and leave the arrowshaft behind. The pricey option is to use the Traditions Firebolt- they are expensive but they are purpose built to be shot off of a barrel liner. -.22 Construction blanks. In early testing it has been noted that straight wall extract better than tapered. Yellow is the weakest that has been tested. -Slow set epoxy, refer to the Proto-barrel docs -#1 wire drill or .22 chamber reamer. I will refer you to multiple internet resources for chambering the liner. -Optional 5/8-11 Thread chaser or tap and die Build Notes: Dry fit parts before epoxy. This include test fitting arrows over the barrel liner. the should not beso tight that you have to force them on... they should just slide right one. Each platform requires 2 printed parts... The breech adapter for your host specific host platform and the female threaded Breech Adapter Plug If you are a poor and don't thave the suggested tap and die or you are building the Ruger Takedown, you will have to use the Threaded Breech Adapter Plug to clear the printed threads... I did this by twisting until I felt slight resistance, turned back a half turn and turn till resistance... in about 5 minutes you will have cleared the threaded and they will work smoothly. Due to the threads I suggest .20 or higher layer hieght for printing these parts. If your arrows are too tight (test fit before epoxying the barrel liner in) chuck the liner on a drill and turn it down with sandpaper. STL files are already in the correct orientation. Gatlatl use notes: The reason for the CF Tube is protect the liner, the arrows will ride the length of the barrel liner when shot. The tube is not crucial to the firing of the arrow, it just protect the liner from getting bent or dammaged. The reason the CF tube adapter is threaded is the construction blanks are very dirty and create alot of powder/carbon fouling. Clean the barrel liner exterior every dozen or so shots, if the arrow gets stuck on the liner it could grenade. Swab\clean the arrows inside between shots with a bore brush. If a dirty arrow get stuck to a barrel liner it could grenade (just use a .22 rifle cleaning brush and rod). We need data from beta testers good bad whatever. We will also need some chrono data if you can. Ok so things are rushed and this is poorly documented at this stage. My complaint forms look remarkably like volunteer applications, if you wanna bitch about it I can assign you a role to do a better job than me. I already built mine, let's work together to build everyone elses. Thats where you come in.
